Christmas traditions, you mean. No, I won't. But I do have something I do on the 21st, shortest day, solstice. Having read Moominland Midwinter many a time, about the Great Winter Bonfire, and that the christmas tree with candles is a simulacrum of a solstice tree-burning, I buy a large firework in November and squirrel it away in the attic until the day (you can't buy them legally here most of the time, or it's all a bit odd, like buying liquor in most US states, they look at you while they sell it to you like they're going to call the cops).
And so we have one big firework on the night of the 21st; like Stevens' ice-cream, it comes and goes at the same time. But it seems to be moment enough (physics joke) to pivot the year.

holidays at last

It was my last day at my first placement school today, huzza. Emotionally exhausting saying goodbye to everybody (one of the year 9s cried) and had a three-man rap performed for me in my tutor group along the lines of

Rispeck for Mister Britton
When he talk we have to listen
Do what he say
Or you will have to pay
And if they do bad then
You know he gonna hit em

(they seem unaware of national non-contact guidelines)

Now I have 2 weeks to write a dissertation entitled Effective Teaching and Learning in Secondary Science or some such. How can I take time away from extensive cooking activities to do this? Remains to be seen.
